“When you think of a [mobile] sale, it seems like a simple transaction,” says Area Sales Manager Les Reed. “Talk to the rep, pick out a phone, go to the register. What you don’t see is the plethora of tools, skills, education, and more that’s required for that transaction to go smoothly.” That’s where Les comes in—his job is about creating efficiencies, removing obstacles, and creating solutions to make the job easier for our team members on the frontlines. 

Les began his career with MarketSource in 2012, helping launch one of our mobile programs. But his path to MarketSource involved a lot of stops along the way. While in college, Les began his mobile career in a grocery store kiosk. Since then, he has worked for several different wireless carriers and has moved multiple times across four states. However, he credits those moves with helping to propel his career. 

“My job is to identify inefficiencies and solve them through innovation,” he said. “It could range from something as simple as a quick one-pager to solve for a challenge, to creating an app that closes communication gaps.” He says collaboration is key to innovation and credits his peers for helping the whole team be successful on a daily basis. 

“I have never woken up a single day in this role and thought, ‘I don’t want to go to work today,’” Les continued. “I have had so many jobs where I dreaded going to work. With MarketSource and our client, it’s never been the case. I attribute this to the amazing people I work with on a daily basis. We are a true team and I am grateful for each and every one of them.” 

When asked for the best advice he’s ever received, he quotes Ralph Waldo Emerson: “’What lies behind us, and what lies before us are but tiny matters compared to what lies within us.’ Character and honesty will take you farther than anything else. In my early career, I used to waste so much energy worried if I was doing something wrong, or if my job was in danger. But I realized if you wake up every day, give 100% of your effort and create a reputation of being honest, you will never have to worry where you stand because you will know you gave it your all.”
