MarketSource has always emphasized the importance of strong relationships, and we know our team members’ relationships with peers and clients have fundamentally shaped our culture today. A perfect example of the benefits of building quality relationships is a recent partnership between Inside Sales Reps Daniel “DJ” Jordan and Vince Holbrook. Together, DJ and Vince were able to work out a win/win for two clients in the same industry.
Unsurprisingly, both credit relationships as the best part of their job. When asked for their approach to building relationships with their clients, they list traits such as follow-through, consistency, communication, and trustworthiness.
So, if someone were brand new to the company or to the industry, what advice would they give about building relationships?
“Be patient,” says DJ. “You can easily catch someone at the wrong moment. Communicate your message clearly and continue to follow up until you’ve met their needs.” Vince says, “Communicate, ask questions, and most importantly, don’t be afraid to say, ‘I don’t know the answer.’ That’s how we learn. Treat others how you would like to be treated.”
This is just one (great!) example of how relationships spark camaraderie, positivity—and yes—even business results.
