Before coming to MarketSource, Blake spent six years with the United States Air Force, stationed in northern California. He originally joined as an air traffic controller and then cross-trained in logistics, where he spent the remainder of his military career.
Blake’s logistical background in the Air Force has prepared him well for his MarketSource program and working through the customer’s supply chain. “It has provided me the disciplinary structure to complete tasks on time and develop relationships with my warehousing customers,” Blake says. He also recognizes his leadership at MarketSource—past and present: “They have contributed immensely to the person I am today. They have taught me the only constant in life is change…and our attitude toward that change determines how long you will struggle with it.”
But at the end of the day, his favorite part of the job is helping others. “It’s rewarding to know I have a positive impact on their clients.” He also credits his nine-year-old daughter Chloe for motivating him to do his best every day.
When asked for an important lesson he has learned throughout his career, Blake says, “I have learned that everyone has a different style and flair to get the goal accomplished, and that’s what makes us unique.”
He also leaves us with an important piece of advice that his time in the military has undoubtedly taught him about civilian life: “Don’t sweat the small stuff—and it’s all small stuff.”
