Voiceover Artist and Inside Sales Skills Coalesce in Charla Hammond

While Charla Hammond is known for her soothing voice in towns all over the U.S., it’s her listening ear that has made an impact at MarketSource.

For nearly 30 years, Charla has worked as a professional voiceover artist, primarily voicing commercials and jingles for local businesses across the country. “In high school, I was always performing in plays, talent shows, and other productions,” says Charla. “After hours, I was a student of Metropolitan Career Center for a radio broadcasting course, where I created my own commercials. A friend encouraged me to send one of my demos to a talent agency, and their call to audition started it all!” Since then, her work has been featured in radio and TV commercials, ads played prior to a movie in theaters, training videos, and audio books. She also played a small part in an animated children’s commercial for Nickelodeon.

“Voiceover work can be a lot of fun because it lets you step into different roles and bring scripts to life using just your voice,” she explains. “It’s like acting, but without being on stage or in front of a camera. You get to experiment with tones, accents, and styles in a way that keeps things exciting.”

At MarketSource, Charla is able to take a break from her role as inside sales rep—where she supports the sale of complex telecommunications solutions—and step in as talent for our Learning & Development multimedia projects. She has worked as a primary talent for training videos and voiceover work, primarily for our retail clients.

“One of the life mottos I’ve instilled in my children is to accept people for who they are. While we don’t have to agree on everything, everyone deserves respect, and I strive to embody that in all my interactions.”

However, she’s known even more so among her peers for her comforting ear and eagerness to help. “I believe I was born with a gift that draws people to me,” Charla says. “My mom says I was a loving child, always showing affection and seeking out hugs. One of the life mottos I’ve instilled in my children is to accept people for who they are. While we don’t have to agree on everything, everyone deserves respect, and I strive to embody that in all my interactions.”

She continues, “I realize I’m not perfect, but I do my best. Whether I’m having a good day or a tough one, I’m always willing to set aside my own needs to support others. I believe we all have a purpose in life, and mine seems to include being there for other people.”

It should come as no surprise, then, that MarketSource’s core values resonate deeply with her. “I try to approach relationship building by being intentional, offering people support, and always being authentic. To me, work ethic means giving your best effort, being dependable, and staying committed to doing what’s right. I value open communication because it builds understanding and credibility and keeps everyone on the same page. I accomplish this by making space for people to share their thoughts. Finally, I serve others by being compassionate, present, and always willing to offer kindness and support whenever someone needs it.”

“MarketSource has had a profound impact on my life,” she says. “Working here has taught me the importance of professionalism, effective communication, and how to confidently engage with professionals in various settings. The skills I’ve gained have not only shaped my career but also enhanced my personal growth, making me a more polished and capable individual.”
