If kindness and positivity were personified, Kristin Edwards’ name would be at the top of that list. So, it’s no surprise that she was recently promoted to Business Development Manager, a key position that often gives prospective clients their initial impression of MarketSource.
With 10 years in the MarketSource Retail business unit under her belt, Kristin has assisted in launching numerous programs and pilots for MarketSource.
“I work with the smartest people I know,” says Kristin. “Interacting with them daily is my favorite part of the job. I also love meeting new people, which is why the business development role is perfect for me. I’m interested in finding out what is important to you…what you’re passionate about. Family and pets? Kristin’s ability to connect with clients was no doubt one of the stand-out qualities leading to her promotion. In addition, every day she lives MarketSource’s core values of open communication, building relationships, serving others, and work ethic. Kristin has a very aspirational outlook when it comes to work ethic: “My approach to a strong work ethic is ‘showing up’ your personal best—every single day! On all my teams, I strive to create environments for people to live their authentic selves and give their best while being challenged each day.”
Her daughters serve as Kristen’s most influential inspirations. “They teach me to continuously learn, grow, and remain flexible while maintaining emotional intelligence,” she says. “I’m challenged to maintain a better work/life balance by working smarter, not harder. And their approach to life inspires me to create moments of ‘wow’ in each day.”
As someone who has worked at MarketSource for a decade and has helped a variety of programs succeed, Kristin has a lot of wisdom to pass along—specifically, lessons she has learned along the way. She shares: “Don’t be afraid to take the risk, do the work that no one else wants to do, and make that lateral career move. Quite often, the best lessons are learned from doing the roles or tasks that no one else is willing to do. I’m also a firm believer that your hard work and dedication will pay off, so don’t give up if it doesn’t come immediately. Learn from those who you feel are smarter than you. Ask questions and actually listen to the answers, and apply them to your daily life. Ask someone to be your mentor or sponsor: asking for feedback is a gift! And finally, find personal strengths to fine-tune your own brand. It will take you far!”
